For yet another web app, that requires a Facebook OAuth login, I deviated from FB’s code examples and bumped into a race condition!
Was a great hackathon! Too much fun, as always.
Focus was EyeWriter, a hacked device and driver for cheap/DIY eye tracking, to assist ALS patients, and others. Team (Maaike, Jan, Anna, Yossi, and I) set out to extend Oren’s eyewriter-chrome-ext, a Chrome extension to facilitate browsing with EyeWriter devices, and ended up forking other repos to create EyeRecorded (my fork), essentially a macro recorder for web page events.
Awful. Hardware problems are always a nightmare, as expected, been there done that, but still an awful experience. I like the absolute reliability of code, as a mathematical entity.
I’m sick of WP. Began blogging (meh, drafting) using Ghost, but I hate it. They call Markdown WYSIWYG! Einstein was right: stupidity is infinite indeed.
Crazy how hard it is to start projects from scratch, and pick the best modern technologies. Seems like always someone’s already made a bad choice I then have to deal with. Continued
Yuck. But, got small customized project integrating with “legacy” stuff (eg, Django ;o).
$#@! this Node ecosystem, there’s a gazillion modules for everything! Which do I want?
